Stretch marks are common among women after pregnancy. You might have fine lines mostly in the areas prone to fat accumulation like breast, hips, arms, abdomen, tummy and thighs. They may develop due to hormonal changes or sudden fat loss in these regions.During pregnancy, our body gains a lot of weight which results in stretch marks. When these appear, it is always advisable to cure them as early as possible. That’s because when the stretch marks are at an early stage, they respond best to the treatment.

These stretch marks are not permanent and it will disappear if treated in the right time. Stretch marks are very normal and it can be removed by following simple natural remedies

1.Shea Butter :

  •  Shea butter is a rich source of vitamin E and carotene which improves the elasticity of the skin and prevents dryness.
  • Apply shea butter directly on the stretch marks regularly to reduce their appearance.You can also prepare a mixture of shea butter and lemon juice by mixing four teaspoons of shea butter and one teaspoon of lemon juice.
  • Apply over the affected areas and keep till it dries. Wash off with cool water and repeat the procedure regularly.

2.Castor Oil:

  • Apply castor oil on the stretch marks and massage the area gently in circular motion for about five to ten minutes.
  • Use a plastic bag to cover the area, roll a hot water bottle on it for about 30 to 40 minutes. The heat opens the pores and the oil gets absorbed into the pores.
  • Clean the area and repeat it every day for at least a month to see good results.

3.Aloe Vera Gel :

  • Aloe vera promotes healing and soothes your skin
  • Rub it directly over the skin, leave for 15 minutes and wash it off using lukewarm water. Apply on the affected areas regularly.
  • Rub it over the skin until it is completely absorbed. Apply it twice a day.

4.Potato Juice :

Potato contains phytochemicals, polyphenols, and carotenoids, which improve the skin texture.

  • Cut a potato into two halves and rub one-half over the stretch marks.
  • Allow the juice to soak into the skin and let it dry.
  • Then rinse off the area using lukewarm water.
  • You can notice the difference in a few months.

5.Vitamin E Oil :

You can combine the vitamin E oil in any of your favorite moisturizer, which acts as a carrier base. Apply regularly over the stretch marks for visible results

6.Castor Oil Treatment :

Apply castor oil on the stretch marks and massage the area gently in circular motion for about five to ten minutes.

  • Use a plastic bag to cover the area, roll a hot water bottle on it for about 30 to 40 minutes. The heat opens the pores and the oil gets absorbed into the pores.
  • Clean the area and repeat it every day for at least a month to see good results.

Tips To Cure Stretch Marks :

  • Massage egg oil regularly from the first trimester since this can prevent stretch marks from appearing. Gently massage egg oil over the abdomen twice a day starting from the 8th week of pregnancy until six months after delivery
  • Stay hydrated by drinking eight glasses of water. This is what all skincare experts will tell you. Have herbal teas without caffeine to stay hydrated. You can also have fruits and vegetables with high water content like watermelons, cucumbers, fresh bell peppers and celery
  • If you spending some time outdoors during pregnancy, keep your skin protected with a good sunscreen. Apply in those areas where stretch marks can occur
  • Don’t use harsh chemicals on your skin. Many commercial body washes contain sulfates, this make the skin dry and reduces the elasticity. So choose a cleanser that has natural oils in it which can hydrate your skin.
  • Bio -oil helps to remove stretch marks
  • You can use Vaseline daily to soothe itching and redness caused by the stretch marks
